17) It's Friday so it's the Doctor! 1st November

So, here's the scoop!

That's exactly what Leigh-Ann would say. Canadians have lots of their own unique expressions. I'll let you have some more from time to time.

I make them laugh (not on purpose) with some of our very English expressions and pronunciations. I am sure that you can guess what some of them are.

We had a 9:00am appointment with the Nurse Practitioner in Agassiz ten minutes away. When we turned up we realised the appointment was actually next Friday but Marie (the nurse practitioner) sneaked us in the back door so the receptionists would not catch us!

We were hoping to get some results this morning but we got none. Marie swung into action phoning and chasing the results for us. An hour later she had done everything she could and we are hopeful of some news early next week.

Marie is a superstar and fights your corner!

Once we have them Leigh-Ann will have a meeting with the surgeon who will decide whether to operate or not. Next we will meet the oncologist to find out what aftercare treatment they can offer.

Yes, it is extremely frustrating for all of us but I cannot imagine what it is like for
Leigh-Ann. Try and imagine having a life threatening illness and waiting three weeks and more to find out what the prognosis is.
Earla celebrated 20 years in
the Library service. Leigh-Ann
was her very first customer

when they were little girls!

After ruining Marie's morning timetable with patients queuing out of the door we had an impromptu meeting with a dietician. At the moment this is one of my biggest worries. She is not eating (hardly anything)! We got some good advice and went straight to the supermarket to stock up with some foods that she can easily digest and provide as many calories as possible. I bought some chocolate for myself (why not?).

We have just seen all the video clips from all her friends in Nerja. Earla spliced them all together into a three minute tear jerker and the tears flowed a lot. What an incredibly nice thing to do. Leigh-Ann wants to thank everyone for their kind and meaningful words. We've watched it many times and every time tears flowed from all of us. Leigh-Ann thanks you from the bottom of her heart for organising it all (whilst on crutches). Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone. Yes, I cried too... Leigh-Ann can't wait to share it with her Canadian friends and the rest of her family.

The word "whilst" does not exist in the Canadian vocabulary. Go figure.
